Everything a procurement analyst needs, in one kit

Twelve chapters that take you from a raw spend file to a decision management can act on.

  • Spend analysisClean and reconcile the data, then see where the money goes and who you depend on.
  • Compliance and controlsMeasure PO and contract compliance properly, and find off-contract spend.
  • Tail spend and cashSmall invoices, payment terms and working capital.
  • Category strategySegment suppliers and decide where sourcing effort pays off.
  • Savings Finance will signBaselines, price versus volume, leakage and FX.
  • AI for procurementWhat to automate, what never to, and 28 prompts with built-in checks.
  • Excel and Power BIPower Query, formulas, pivots and DAX, with an expected value for every step.
  • Reporting to managementOne-page reports and difficult conversations with budget holders.

Two obvious answers. Both wrong.

One example of the method, from Chapter 3. The fictional sample company reports 82.03% PO compliance and 62.06% contract coverage. Both figures are correct. Most people then combine them, and get it wrong.

  • 56%Wrong Add the two exception rates to get "total exposure". It double-counts the spend that has neither a PO nor a contract.
  • 20 pointsWrong Subtract one rate from the other to get "the PO but off-contract gap". Two opposite failures cancel out and hide the real problem.
  • 46.59%Right Cross the two flags instead. This is the share of spend outside at least one control.

Fictional sample data from the kit's dataset: 150 invoices, 20 invented suppliers, NGN 552,660,500.

Is it for you?

For you if

  • You are new to procurement and want to learn how experienced teams actually analyse spend.
  • You work in procurement, supply chain or finance and are asked to turn spend data into answers.
  • You work in a fast-growing market, from Lagos and Nairobi to Johannesburg, Cairo, Karachi or Manila, and want your analysis to stand up in a multinational.
  • You want to get ahead of your peers with the data and AI skills most people only pick up years into the job.
  • You report to management and need numbers that hold up when Finance checks them.
  • You are studying for CIPS or a similar qualification and want hands-on practice alongside the theory.

What you need

  • Excel with Power Query. Power BI is optional; the Excel path is complete on its own.

Not for you if

Questions

How can I pay, and how much will I actually pay?

Visa and Mastercard debit or credit cards are accepted. Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link may appear when your device and country are eligible. Stripe shows the methods available to you at checkout. The base price is CA$15 (about US$11). Stripe shows the payment currency and any local sales tax or VAT before you pay. If checkout charges in Canadian dollars, your bank may convert it at its own rate and add a fee. Your bank may send you an OTP to confirm the payment. Verve cards do not work on this checkout.

My card was declined. What can I do?

Some banks limit or switch off international payments on local-currency cards. Try these in order: turn on online and international transactions in your bank app; check your international spending limit; try a different Visa or Mastercard, such as a dollar card or a virtual card. If you were charged but did not reach the download page, email us with the address you paid with and we will sort it out.

How do I get the files?

Straight after payment you go to a download page. The kit is one zip file of about 1 MB. Stripe also emails you a receipt. If anything goes wrong, email support with the address you paid with.

Can I get a refund?

No. The kit is an instant digital download, so all sales are final. Read Chapter 3 free first to see exactly what you get. If a file is damaged or will not download, email us and we will send you a working copy.

Can I use it on my phone?

You can buy and download on your phone, and the PDFs read well there. The exercises need Excel with Power Query, so the building is best done on a computer. Power BI is optional. Everything works offline once downloaded.

Is this accredited or endorsed by CIPS?

No. It is independent training material, built from CIPS Level 4 and 5 training and years of practice. It is not accredited or endorsed by CIPS or any professional body.
